What to Purchase and How to decide which types of Each

Printer and Types of Teslin

This is the Printer that I use.  An Hp DeskJet 812c.  It is not that high end, however I get amazing results.

The First Decision you are going to need to make is which Printer you need to purchase.  

Whether it be a laser printer or an Inkjet.  If you already own a pretty high quality ink jet then you should be fine.  If you are purchasing a printer I would recommend a color laser printer (if you got the bling/money) or maybe an ALPS printer since it can print holograms which will be discussed later in the tutorial.                                                             

One of the Main problems With printing on Regular Teslin with an Ink jet is that it sucks up most of the ink making the quality runny and dark. More or less the quality will suck.  Well what you can do is purchase IJ-1000 teslin which is made for inkjets.  One side is coated specially for inkjets which will greatly improve ID quality.  So if you have a laser printer purchase SP or regular teslin, and if you own an INK jet purchase IJ teslin it is that easy.

Laminator

The second decision that you are going to need to make is which Laminator you are going to purchase.  Personally I do not think that it really matters.  This one cost me only 20 dollars 5 years ago and it works great.  It is A shitty laminator that I bust around all the time but it works great!

This Laminator is 100 times better than the one I have.  You can even tell buy just looking at it.  This will provide you with great results using the butterfly pouches (see below).  The is a Fellows 52004 and is only $25 I believe.  Buy it from Amazon by clicking the image.

Butterfly Pouches

Although you have a laminator, you will still need some laminates.  These are called butterfly pouches.  They are designed specifically for teslin and are required.  These are a must to have otherwise your Id will not be hard.  I will be adding the ability to purchase specific items alter on.

Templates

So now, you have most of the tools to make your ID.  Well you still need some templates.  These are documents used in Photoshop which allow you to import your picture to a pre-made ID and change the name and all the information.  Depending on how good the template is that you get.

Photoshop

This is required to edit your templates and place you picture in it.  This is  just an AMAZING photo editing software that everyone should have.  It is used to design you Own IDs and to edit other peoples templates. If you do not have Photoshop purchase it from Amazon through the picture link!  The version is 5.0 LE which is all that you will need.  It is better than spending an EXTRA $500.  This one will only cost you around $60.

Scanner or Digital Camera to Import your picture

It is definitely a must to have a digital camera or scanner to import your pictures into the templates.  It is your decision which you will use, however a digital camera is much easier to achieve good results I am biased because I have one and it is great!.  Click the pictures to find out more information about the product. 

Digital Cameras	Scanners
This digital camera is only $60 and produces images perfect for making an ID.  It is a cheap digital camera, that has a high resolution but doesn't hold a lot of pics.  Since you will be just uploading them to your computer it doesn't really make a difference.  You save $30 off the price because of its ugly color.	This is the Canon CanoScan N650U USB Flatbed Scanner. It will cost you $81.  It is a quality scanner that could be used for both school work etc. and making IDs.
This digital camera from HP Photo smart 215 will run you about $200.  Will provide better pictures than the one above and is only necessary if you are going to be using the camera for other purposes than making IDs.	If you want a higher end scanner than this is what you are looking for, the AGFA Snap scan e50.  It will cost you $165 but well worth the price.
